Cynthia Agee

Cynthia Johnson, 78, of Kinnelon, passed away on July 5, 2013.
Born and raised in Cranford NJ, Cynthia graduated from Marjorie Webster Junior College and worked as a legal secretary in New York City before having children. She and her husband Bill have been residents of Smoke Rise in Kinnelon for the past 50 years.
A dedicated mother, she also loved tennis, piano, entertaining, politics, traveling and skiing, spending the past few winters in Utah. Cynthia had a wide circle of friends through her own activities and those of her children. She was the person that everyone confided in, since she had a good ear and even better advice. These friends were a tremendous help to her in the last few years, for which she and Bill were very thankful. In the '60's and '70's, the Agee's parties often ended around the piano, with Cynthia playing song requests by ear. She was sometimes referred to as the "tennis lady" since she was often seen scooting around town from one errand to another in her tennis outfit. Cynthia and Bill travelled often and widely -- doing everything from skiing in the Italian Alps to rebuilding footpaths in Peru.
Cynthia is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bill Agee; her sons, Bill and Tom; her brother, Robert Johnson; as well as extended family and many friends.
A funeral service will be held 11 AM Wednesday, July 10 at The Community Church of Smoke Rise, Kinnelon. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 9-11 AM at the church. Interment will follow at Mount Rest Cemetery, Butler. Arrangements are under direction of the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Cynthia's memory to Chilton Memorial Hospital would be greatly appreciated by her family.
