Edwin Gorter

Edwin "Ed," 81, of Waldwick passed away peacefully after a 2 ½ year illness on February 17, 2014. Born in Doon, Iowa he lived in Midland Park before moving to Waldwick 6 years ago.
He served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Ed was the owner of California Stucco in Hackensack and a member at Faith Community Church in Wyckoff. He was also a former Elder and Deacon at Irving Park Christian Reformed Church in Midland Park. Ed loved playing golf but most of all he loved life and his family.
Beloved husband of 57 ½ years of Kathleen Gorter (nee Smid) of Waldwick.
Devoted father of Edwin Gorter and his wife Wendy of Midland Park, Ronald Gorter and his wife Barbara of North Haledon, Nancy Kraai and her husband Lance of North Haledon, David Gorter and his wife Dolores of Lewistown, Michigan, Steven Gorter and his wife Laura of North Haledon and Sandra Duffy and her husband Christopher of Midland Park.
Loving grandfather of nineteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and predeceased by one granddaughter.
Dear brother of Annie Kramer, Clarence Gorter and Jerald Gorter all of South Dakota and predeceased by six brothers and sisters.
The family will receive family and friends on Friday from 3-7 pm at Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 11 AM at Faith Community Christian Reformed Church, 530 Sicomac Avenue, Wyckoff.
