Emanuel "Manny", 88, formerly of Emerson, passed away on August 23, 2013. Born in New York to the late Anton and Athena. Manny was an Army veteran of W.W.II serving in the 88th Infantry in Italy. Before retiring, he was the owner of Mona Lisa Hair Fashion in Emerson and was a musician and leader of Zorba's Orchestra International for over fifty years and was a member of the N.Y. Musicians Union Local 802. He was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Wyckoff and a member of AHEPA. Beloved husband of Alice (nee Eliades) Ayvas. Devoted father of Athena Vasiliadis and her husband Alex of South Plainfield, Mary Vassilakis and her husband Steve of Delray Beach, FL. and Anton Ayvas and his wife Irene of Elmwood Park (formerly of Wood-Ridge). Dear brother of Helen Vardakis of Bayonne and the late Stella Aneson. Loving grandfather of eight grandchildren and eight great-grand-children. Opa Zorba. Funeral from Costa Memorial Home Boulevard and Central Ave. Hasbrouck Heights on Monday at 9:30 AM. Funeral Service from St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Wyckoff at 11 AM. Interment following at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. Visitation Sunday 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM.
