Emily Brand of West Orange, formerly of Montclair, died in her home on Tuesday, Oct. 23.
Born in Brooklyn in 1937, Mrs. Brand attended the Packer Institute and Goucher College and received a master's degree in education from New York University
. In the 1960s, she supported her young family while her husband pursued his medical training in Boston, Baltimore and Palo Alto.
Settling in Montclair in 1968, Mrs. Brand was successful in marketing and real estate. With friends and family, she enjoyed good food, fine wines, and traveling the world. Her adventures to six continents included safaris in Africa, wine tastings, and as a member of the Chaine des Rotisseurs in Europe, South America, Australia and South Africa. During one of her many trips to Southern France and Monaco, she was hosted by Prince Rainier.
Mrs. Brand is survived by her husband of 52 years, Michael Brand, M.D.; her children, Adam, Joshua, Jennifer and Peter; their spouses, Jane, Marnie and Ann; her sister, Hazel and her husband, Les Gable; and her seven grandchildren.
