Gordon Melville, age 83, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2014. Beloved son of the late Gordon and Hannah, loving husband of the late Arley Constance, devoted father of Gordon, Andrea Bates (Todd), John (Elizabeth), Mary Slattery (Michael) and David, cherished brother of Betty, Marion, Eileen, Mae and Beverly and doting grandfather of Jamie, Ian, Todd, Gordon, Jennifer, Juliette, Claire, Emily and Conor.
Born on September 16, 1930, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, his family moved to Kingston, Ontario, where he became known as a good friend to many and a talented and feared ice hockey player. After traveling throughout Canada playing ice hockey, Gordon settled in Clinton, NY, where he met the love of his life and dear wife, Arley Constance Cantlon. They later moved to Syracuse, NY, and then East Brunswick, NJ, to raise their family. Gordon will always be lovingly remembered as a kind, gentle man with a great sense of humor and beautiful blue eyes.
The family will receive their friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkmack Road, Westwood, NJ, on Thursday, March 13, 2014, from 6 to 9 PM where there will be a brief service at 6:45 PM. Memorial gifts to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, www.pdf.org would be greatly appreciated.
