James Hogan

Hasbrouck Heights — James Richard Hogan, 79, formerly of Tenafly, died March 30.

Born in Englewood, he served in the NJ National Guard from 1958-1960. Before retiring, he was a carpenter for the New Jersey Carpenters Union Local 15 in Hackensack for more than 40 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Euclid Masonic Lodge both in Hasbrouck Heights. He was an avid chess player, a skilled craftsman and a self-taught sculptor.

He was the husband of the late Evelyn V. Hogan; father of James R. Hogan II and his wife, Patricia, Candace L. O'Malley and her husband, Dan, and Heather A. Mika and her husband, Eddie; brother of John, George and William Hogan and the late Betsy Burns; and grandfather of eight.
