John Dietz

PEQUANNOCK — Services will be held for John Joseph Dietz, 98, of the Pompton Plains section of this community, who died on Friday, March 7, 2014.

Born in Germany, Mr. Dietz lived in New Milford and Cedar Grove before moving to Pompton Plains in 2002. He was an electrical and nuclear engineer for McGraw Edison for 38 years. Also, he was the owner of Xavier Corp., Manchester, N.H. He was a member of the American Radio Relay League, Rotary International, and the Knights of Columbus. He was a parishioner of St. Catherine's Church, Cedar Grove. And, he was the founder of the Eureka Society, Pompton Plains.

Arrangements are by the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains. Interment will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Montclair. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Cedar Crest Village Benevolent Fund.

Mr. Dietz is survived by his wife, the former Anne Herkel; his daughter, Theresa Rumore; his godson, Andrew Kostka; and two grandchildren.
