John Koruda

John F. Jr., 89, of Hasbrouck Heights formerly of Jersey City passed away on October 17, 2013 of natural causes. John was born on December 31, 1923 to Mary and John F. Koruda, Sr. in Johnstown, PA., the youngest of six children.
John served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II as a plankowner on the USCGC Mendota. He was a member of the James B. Scarr American Legion Post 106 and a life member of the V.F.W. Post 4591 both in Hasbrouck Heights. He married his bride Helen (nee Siwek) in 1950 and resided with his family in Hasbrouck Heights since 1955.
After a more than three decade career in the U.S. Postal Service, he retired in 1989 as a supervisor for the U.S. Post Office in South Hackensack. He was a parishioner of Corpus Christi R.C. Church in Hasbrouck Heights and was an avid N.Y. Yankee fan and enjoyed his Jersey Shore, mystery books and country music.
John is survived by his children and their spouses; Mark and Barbara Koruda, Karen and William Clynes and Kris and Robert Patterson. His grandchildren; Katherine and Ryan Dolan, Elizabeth and Emily Koruda, Kelly and Lindsay Clynes and John and Brian Patterson. His sister-in-law; Loretta Siwek. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and his brothers and sisters.
Funeral from Costa Memorial Home Boulevard and Central Ave. Hasbrouck Heights on Saturday, October 19th. at 9 AM. Funeral Liturgy from Corpus Christi R.C. Church at 10 AM. Interment following at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visitation Friday, October 18th. from 5-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the American Parkinson Foundation 1501 N.W. 9th. Ave. / Bob Hope Rd. Miami, Fl. 33136-1494 would be appreciated.
