John Palomba

WANAQUE — Services were held for John Joseph Giovanni Palomba Sr., 84, of Bogota, who died on Thursday, April 10, 2014. He was the father of Richard of this community.

Mr. Palomba worked for the Bergen County Parks Department and was a security guard at the Bergen County Court House before retiring. A U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5561 as well. He also was active with Bogota Recreation Baseball and the BUC Boosters. And, he was an assistant scoutmaster.

Services were Tuesday at the Petrik Funeral Home, Bogota, followed by Mass at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Bogota. Interment was at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Bogota Veterans of Foreign Wars, No. 5561.

Mr. Palomba also is survived by his other sons, John of Hackensack, Gary of Lincoln Park, and Ronald of Hewitt; his brothers, Anthony and Louis; and four grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Joan; his parents, Joseph and Adeline; and his sister, Anna McGarry.
