John "Jack," 64, of Pompton Lakes, passed away on September 11, 2013.
Born in Hoboken, Jack was the son of the late Charles and Frances (Devine) Schloerb. He proudly served in the US Army
during the Vietnam War
as an Army Ranger and obtained the rank of Sergeant. Jack was awarded a Purple Heart
Medal with one oak leaf cluster for injuries he received and the Bronze Star
Medal for acts of valor and bravery. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and the VFW as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus. Jack worked as a union glazier and was a faithful parishioner of St. Mary's R.C. Church. A family man, Jack loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Maureen (McDermott) ; his son, Eric and his wife Tracy; his daughters, Kristi Brennan and her husband Jim, and Amy; his siblings, Diane Forgione, Teri Molnar, Reggie Schloerb, twin sister Judith Legregni, Kevin Schloerb, Merrilee Burd and Valerie Mercer; and his grandchildren, Sophia, Keira, Madelyn, Brynn and his soon to be first grandson.
A funeral Mass will be held 10 AM, Monday, September 16 at St. Mary's R.C. Church, Pompton Lakes. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Airmont, NY. Visiting hours will be held from 5-9 PM Saturday and 6-9 PM Sunday at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack's memory to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration would be greatly appreciated by his family.
