Kenneth Carmen, age 44, of Hammondsport, NY passed away at home with his wife on Sunday, March 30, 2014.
Ken was born August 12, 1969 in Jersey City, NJ, the son of Carmen and Arlene (Cassinis) Sofio. He married Megan Green of Painted Post on May 5th, 2012 in Jeruslaem, NY, she survives him. Ken graduated from Bergenfield High School in Bergenfield, NJ class of 1987.
He graduated from St. Bonaventure University in Olean, NY in 1991. Ken received his CPA while working at KPMG in New York City.
He was employed by Corning Inc., as Vice President of Investor Relations. Ken had been employed at Corning for fifteen years. Ken was an organizer for ten years for Scorchfest, an event for the United Way. Ken loved Bruce Springsteen, going to NY Yankees games and was an avid reader.
He is survived by his wife: Megan (Green) Sofio, daughter Emily Sofio, his father Carmen and mother Arlene (Cassinis) Sofio, sister Lisa (Timothy) Sofio-O'Hare, nephew Connor O'Hare and niece Kaitlyn O'Hare, many other wonderful family and close friends. Ken believed the best thing that ever happened to him was his daughter Emily and his wife Megan.
Friends will be received Thursday April 3rd from 4:30-8 PM at Phillips Funeral Home and Cremation Service,17 W. Pulteney St. in Corning. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, April 4th at 9:30 AM at St. Mary's Church, Corning. Entombment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Corning.
