RIDGEWOOD — Martha Urish Glaser, 82, died on April 8.
Born on April 6, 1931 in New York City, to Eva and Frank Urish, she raised her family in Palisades, N.Y. and Old Tappan and retired to Ridgewood. She was educated at Douglas College and completed a Master Degree in history at New York University
. She had a career teaching at Union Community College, as a writer at Volvo, and an editor at Medical Economics and Drug Topics Magazine. She founded a Planned Parenthood chapter and was most recently active in Ridgewood Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company.
She is survived by her children, Thomas (Ruby) Glaser of Demarest, Laura (George Donkin) of Bethesda, Md. and Marjorie (Robert Sommer) of Ridgewood; her grandchildren, Natalie and Rachel Glaser, Michael and Jacob Donkin and Alex and Will Sommer; her beloved Roy Lucas of Ridgewood and his children, Craig Lucas (Katherine), Alison Lucas (Edward Kunert), Nicole (Ted Haimes) and Evan Lucas; her grandchildren, Daniel and Gabrielle Lucas and Lucas and Max Haimes; and her sister, Virginia (Milton) Walzer of Boynton Beach, Fla. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert S. Glaser.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10 at Gutterman and Musicant, 402 Park St. in Hackensack, followed by interment at Cedar Park Cemetery in Paramus.
Relatives and friends are welcome at the Sommer residence for Shiva, 211 Sunset Ave. in Ridgewood, from 2 to 8 p.m. on April 10 and 11.
