PEQUANNOCK — Services were held for Martin Dob, 92, of the Pompton Plains section of this community, who died on Sunday, November 3, 2013.
Born in Passaic, Mr. Dob moved to Pompton Plains in 1957. He was a compositor for various printing companies for 47 years before retiring. Subsequently, he worked part-time until the age of 85. A U.S. Army
veteran of World War II
, he was a member of American Legion Post No. 242 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 15031. He was a charter member of the Pompton Plains Christian Reformed Church, now known as the Pompton Plains Reformed Bible Church. And, he was a volunteer firefighter
with Pompton Plains Fire Department Company No. 1 for more than 49 years.
Services were Saturday at the Pompton Plains Reformed Bible Church, followed by interment at East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton. Arrangements were by the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675; or to Pequannock Township Fire Company No. 1, P.O. Box 203, Pompton Plains, NJ 07444.
Mr. Dob is survived by his son, Ron; his daughter, Joyce Janowicz; and five grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marion; his parents, Herbert and Adrianna; his brother, Matthew; and his sister, Marjorie VanDenHouten.
