Mary Schack

SCHACK
Mary (nee Opuda), age 90, passed away surrounded by her children on Thursday, May 2nd, 2013. Born June 26, 1922 in Garfield, she graduated from Garfield High School in 1940 and worked at the Bendix Corporation until 1955. She was later employed at Automatic Data Processing for over 34 years, retiring in 2002. She was a life-long member of the Three Saints Russian Orthodox Church in Garfield and actively participated in the church choir, the Mother's and Women's club, and the FROC. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of New Jersey, Jephtha Chapter #134. Mary will be remembered as a loving, caring, compassionate and considerate person, always wanting to help others. She will be greatly missed by everyone. She is survived by her daughter, Marianne and son-in-law Robert Fitzgerald of Higganum, Ct., her son Michael W. Schack of Kingston, NY and her three beloved grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle and Erin Fitzgerald. Loving Aunt and Great Aunt to her nephews and nieces in the Opuda and Schack families. She is pre-deceased by her husband Walter J Schack, her parents Andrew and Anna Opuda, and her three brothers, Joseph, Steven and John Opuda. Visitation hours are Thursday, May 9th from 2-4 and 6-9 PM at Lakeview Memorial Home, 371 Lakeview Ave., Clifton. There will be an Order of the Eastern Star service at 7 PM and a parastas at 8 PM. Funeral Service will be Friday, May 10th, starting 10 AM at the funeral home and 11 AM at the Three Saints Russian Orthodox Church in Garfield. Following the service she will be brought to her final resting place at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Mary's memory to VITAS Hospice and can be sent to the Foundation for End of Life Care, 3325 Hollywood Blvd., Suite 500, Hollywood, Fla. 33021.
