Mildred D. (nee Dann), age 94, of Dumont on October 14, 2013 at her home. She will be sadly missed by her devoted children; John Allan and Margaret (John) Moses, and a dear sister, Helen Colgan. A great joy in Mildred's life were her cherished grandchildren: John Lee Moses and his wife Kelley, Robert Allan, Jennifer Ormsby and her husband Brian, Katherine Huggins and her husband Jay, James Moses, and Gretchen Allan, and eight great-grandchildren. Mildred is predeceased by her beloved husband John (1994) and siblings; Virginia, Raymond, Lois, Lillian, and Phyllis.
Born in Downsville, NY to the late Ernest and Olive Dann, Mildred was an art teacher for the Borough of Dumont, Selzer School. She also was a certified ESL teacher, an election official, and very active in Old North Reformed Church. An avid chess player, she won the New Jersey Women's Open in 1985 as well as numerous other chess awards.
A memorial service will be held this Friday, October 18, 2013, 11 A.M. at the Old North Reformed Church, Dumont.
