Ogden C. Beresford

Ogden C., age 93, of Allendale died Thursday, April 10, 2014. Born in Yonkers, NY he grew up in Tarrytown, NY before settling his family in Allendale 57 years ago. He was a graduate of Columbia College where he was active in the Varsity Club and was a WW II Navy veteran serving on the USS Baltimore in the Pacific. With his wife Mary Louise, he was the co-owner of Old Tappan Travel in Old Tappan before his retirement. Ogden was a very active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Allendale where he served on the vestry and building committee and taught Sunday school. He also served on the steering committee and building committee of Northern Highlands Regional High School. Ogden was active in the Allendale Holiday Observers, the Lions Club in Old Tappan and the Allendale VFW Post 10181. Surviving are his two daughters, Christianne Gerken and her husband Harry of Randolph, NJ and Jean Johnson and her husband Allan of New Fairfield, CT. Also surviving are his three grandchildren, Scott, Matthew and Katherine and his four great grandchildren, Ella, Henry, Eric and Penny. He was predeceased by his wife Mary Louise in August, 2013. A Requiem Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, 9:30 am at Trinity Episcopal Church, 50 George Street, Allendale, NJ 07401. Interment will follow in Redeemer Cemetery, Mahwah, NJ.
