Peter J., 93, of Upper Saddle River, died peacefully at Villa Marie Claire on Saturday, December 14, 2013 in the company of his loving daughter.
Peter was born in Ridgewood, NJ and moved to Saddle River as a child and attended Saddle River Grammar School, Ramsey High School and Montclair State College. He was a World War II Veteran of the 45th US Army Division, 179th Regiment. He was decorated with a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart Award. He taught at Brookside School in Allendale, NJ for over 20 years and was Borough Clerk from 1956-1966 and a Borough Administrator from 1966-1982.
Surviving his loving wife of 73 years, Rosemary (Otens), his devoted sisters, Enez, Rita, Kathryn, his children, Judith, Kathleen, Elizabeth, Barbara (Tom), Stephen (Rita), Christopher (Renee), his grandchildren, Anna Marie, Jeffrey, Michael, Theresa (Kim), Jessica, Jill (Mike), Benjamin (Jena), Kayla, great-grandchildren, R.C., Natalia, Shallen, Kaitlyn and Dylan Peter. Peter was predeceased by his sisters Edith and Betty and his children Peter and MaryAnn.
Peter was an active member of Our Lady of the Presentation in Upper Saddle River. He was also a former member of the Upper Saddle River Fire Department and Ambulance Corp.
The Odo family will receive family and friends on Wed., Dec. 18, 2013 at the Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave, Ramsey between the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral mass will be held Thur., December 19, 2013 at 10 AM at the Church of Presentation, 271 West Saddle River Road, Upper Saddle River and interment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah.
Donations in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Church of Presentation.
