Richard M., 83, of Pequannock, NJ, died Saturday, August 24, 2013.
Born in Irvington, NJ, Rich was the son of Stanley and Rose Wisneski. A graduate of Ridgefield Park High School, he earned his B.S. in Business Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University, graduating Cum Laude. He went on to work for more than 50 years as the Manager of Logistics Contracts at Bendix/Allied-Signal/Honeywell before retiring at age 73.
Rich served in the Army during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Alaska as part of Compay H, 196th Infantry Regiment.
In 1962, he married Mary Jane Colling, and together the couple settled in Pequannock in 1965, raising six children.
Rich was a Life Member with Engine Company 2, Ridgefield Park Fire Dept., and was a member of the Ridgefield Park Exempt Firemen's Association. He was a longtime parishioner of Holy Spirit R.C. Church in Pequannock serving as an usher and Eucharistic Minister. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Bishop Navagh Council in Pequannock serving in multiple roles including Grand Knight. He was also a member of the Franciscan Friars Fourth Degree Assembly in Butler. He was a longtime treasurer for Boy Scout Troop 79 and Cub Scout Pack 78 in Pequannock. He also served on the Pequannock Township Environmental Commission.
Rich was an avid gardener, loyal Yankee fan, and experienced traveler who visited all 50 states.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jane; his children: Richard C. and his wife Debbie of Denville, NJ; Peter of Lincoln Park, NJ; Anne Marie Kopf and her husband James of Stockholm, NJ; Philip of Franklin Park, NJ; Karen Johnson and her husband Andrew of Uwchlan Township, PA; and David and his wife Kelly of Pequannock; his fourteen grandchildren: Andrew, Emily, Brandon, Elizabeth, Claire, Kayla, Hannah, Hally, Lindsey, Matthew, Rebecca, Thomas, Margaret Mary, and Timothy. He is also survived by his brother, Eugene and his wife Patricia of Ridgefield Park, NJ, and his sister-in-law Arlene Wing of Palm Coast, FL. He was predeceased by his brother, Stanley P. Wisneski, Jr.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday, August 28 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains.www.scanlanfuneralhome.com. A funeral Mass will be held 10 AM. Thursday, August 29 at Holy Spirit R.C. Church, Pequannock. Entombment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah.
