Stephen Dormer

Stephen John, of Suffern, New York died on April 26th. Stephen was born in and lived most of his life in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey where his surviving family resides. He attended primary school in Upper Saddle River and graduated from Northern Highlands High School in 2006. He was a Finance Major in the Business School at Ramapo College. As a youth, Stephen enjoyed all that his community had to offer. He benefitted from and appreciated the instruction of caring and dedicated teachers. He was an enthusiastic participant in recreational sports-baseball, basketball, and soccer-and knew the selfless commitment of the volunteer coaches in each team. He was a proud member of Troop 133 of the Boy Scouts of America. He became a Star Scout and learned leadership and Scouting skills from the gifted and tireless adult leaders in the troop. In high school he played football at Northern Highlands and learned conditioning and teamwork from the coaching staff. He has been a lifelong member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Allendale, where he learned and practiced his faith. Stephen is survived by his parents, Stephen and Eileen, his sister, Kaitlyn, his extended family who cared for him all his life, his cousins, second cousins, aunts and uncles, his wonderful friends and classmates, his community of faith, and the parents, teachers, coaches and volunteers of Upper Saddle River. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave, Ramsey. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 3, 2013 at 10 AM at Calvary Lutheran Church in Allendale, NJ. Interment will follow at Redeemer Cemetery in Mahwah, NJ.
