Thomas I., 90, of Ocean, passed away on Sunday August 11, 2013 at Meridian Nursing and Rehab, Shrewsbury.
He was born in Scranton, PA, lived in Park Ridge, NJ, for 38 years and has been a resident of Ocean for the past 10 years.
He earned his B.S. degree from Rutgers University and worked as a marketing manager for Pfizer Inc. of New York for 40 years before retiring in 1989.
Thomas was a veteran of the United States Navy
serving in World War II
from 1943 to 1946 on LST701. He participated in the liberation of the Philippine Islands and the Okinawa Campaign.
He was a member of the Park Ridge Elks lodge
# 2234 and Delta Sigma Pi.
He was predeceased by his sister Mary Burrows. Surviving is his wife of 63 years Eleanor Burrows, Three sons; Grover, Michael and James Burrows, a daughter-in-law; Lorraine. Three grandchildren; Cathleen, Joshua and Mary Frances.
A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday August 18 from 2-5 PM at the Bongarzone Funeral Home, 2400 Shafto Road, Tinton Falls. A memorial mass will be held on Monday August 19 at 9 AM from the Church of St. Anselm, Tinton Falls. Inurnment will follow at Brigadier Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
