Robert Huggard Obituary

HUGGARD
Robert C., 74, passed away on November 7, 2015 at Duke University Medical Center, NC, surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born in Teaneck, to Robert Thomas and Madeline Jean. He grew up in Ridgefield Park and Little Ferry, NJ. He graduated from Ridgefield Park High School in 1959 where he was a varsity athlete in football and baseball. From high school, he went on to attend Bates College, Lewiston, Maine
In 1963 he married his high school sweetheart Evelyn (Lynn) Vozeh. They resided in Ramsey where they raised their two children.
Bob initially pursued a career in banking. He was the president of the savings and loan department. In 1977, he changed careers and purchased Anchor RentAll. His business was a full service equipment and rental business where he proudly serviced our communities. During his career, he sponsored and contributed to several youth and service organizations. In 1983, he was presented with the "Citizen of the Year" for his devotion and efforts on behalf of the Elks.
Bob was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife Evelyn (Lynn) of 52 years, his son Robert S. and his wife Christine, his daughter Jennifer Huggard, his sister Linda Harth and her husband Bob, sister-in-law Karen Vozeh. Cherished grandfather to Brianna and Ian Brouchhausen, Lily Huggard, Tyler and Kaitlin Miller. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
In 2002, Bob began facing many health challenges. In 2010, he entered into the Lung Transplant program at Duke University Medical Center. On Sept. 29, 2013 Bob received a double lung transplant. This miracle by an unknown donor gave us two wonderful years and vastly improved his quality of life. For this, he was forever grateful.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave, Ramsey. A funeral service will be held on Saturday November 14, 2015 at 11 AM at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. Interment will follow at Redeemer Cemetery in Mahwah.
