CASCIANO
Elva (nee Stacchiotti), 89, of Little Falls, NJ, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2013, following a three year illness with pancreatic cancer. She was born and raised in Old Forge, PA, to the late Maria (Bossi) and Paolo Stacchiotti. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Casciano. Mother of Marie Galorenzo and her husband Stan and Daniel Casciano, all of Little Falls. She was also blessed to be the beloved grandmother of Julie and Paul Galorenzo and Andrew, Ariel and Alex Casciano. Sister of Aldo and Mario Stacchiotti, both of Old Forge, PA, and the late Dina Parise. Aunt of Frank and Diane Casciano of North Caldwell, John and Roxanne Casciano of Sparta, Anthony Parise, James Stacchiotti, Ronald Stacchiotti, Mary Ellen Stacchiotti, Linda Mackarey, all of Old Forge, Michael Stacchiotti of Milford, CT, and the late Paul Stacchiotti, in addition to many great nieces and nephews.
During WWII, following her graduation from Old Forge HS, Eva worked as a mechanic's helper on the Pennsylvania Railroad in Wilmington, DE while the men were away at war. This is where she met her husband before his deployment overseas in the Pacific Theatre. Following their marriage, they relocated to Jersey City, where they were pioneers in the frozen food industry, running a family enterprise, "Casciano Frozen Foods". After the children were born, Elva was a stay at home mom and enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, applique quilting and crocheting afghans for her family and loved ones. Elva's life centered around her family, who meant everything to her. She would always place the interests and concerns of others before her own. This was quite evident in her beautiful Christian ways in every aspect of her being. Elva was a member of Calvary Assembly Church, Woodland Park, where she worshipped and enjoyed the fellowship of many devoted friends. She faithfully read her Bible daily. Elva also enjoyed traveling to the United Kingdom, France, Italy and Germany as well as many states in the USA. Elva's family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Memorial Sloan Kettering in Basking Ridge and NYC and Compassionate Care Hospice for their tender loving care and support during her illness.
Funeral Service Wednesday, 10:15 AM at Gaita Memorial Home, 154 Newark Pompton Tpke., Little Falls. Interment Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa. The family will receive their friends Tuesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.
