Elva Casciano Obituary

LITTLE FALLS - Elva (nee Stacchiotti) Casciano, 89, of Little Falls, died Jan. 26, 2013 following a three year illness with pancreatic cancer.

She was born and raised in Old Forge, Pa. to the late Maria (Bossi) and Paolo Stacchiotti.

During World War II, following her graduation from Old Forge HS, Eva worked as a mechanic's helper on the Pennsylvania Railroad in Wilmington, Del., while the men were away at war. This is where she met her husband before his deployment overseas in the Pacific Theatre. Following their marriage, they relocated to Jersey City where they were pioneers in the frozen food industry, running a family enterprise, "Casciano Frozen Foods."

After the children were born, Elva was a stay at home mom and enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, applique quilting and crocheting afghans Elva was a member of Calvary Assembly Church, Woodland Park. Elva also enjoyed traveling to the United Kingdom, France, Italy and Germany as well as many states in the U.S.

Wife of the late Frank Casciano. Mother of Marie Galorenzo and her husband Stan and Daniel Casciano, all of Little Falls. Grandmother of Julie and Paul Galorenzo and Andrew, Ariel and Alex Casciano. Sister of Aldo and Mario Stacchiotti, both of Old Forge, Pa. and the late Dina Parise. Aunt of Frank and Diane Casciano of North Caldwell, John and Roxanne Casciano of Sparta, Anthony Parise, James Stacchiotti, Ronald Stacchiotti, Mary Ellen Stacchiotti, Linda Mackarey, all of Old Forge, Michael Stacchiotti of Milford, Conn. and the late Paul Stacchiotti, in addition to many great nieces and nephews.

Arrangements: Gaita Memorial Home, Little Falls.

I'm glad I met your mom many times at calvary assembly. she was a very loving and compassionate woman. my mom goes there and knew her well. I went to school with Dan in little falls-so I felt a connection with her. May God bless each of you with the memories of love she showed. love and prayers, joanne (pardine) brown.
