Jacquelyn O'Connor Obituary

O'CONNOR
Jacquelyn, age 83, of Fort Lauderdale, FL passed away on July 30th, 2013. Born in Denver, CO, Mrs. O'Connor was a long time resident of Little Falls.
She is predeceased by her husband of 59 years Edward O'Connor and is survived by her three children: Karen (Edward) J. Carolan, Lynn (Pablo) Maute, Douglas O'Connor; and by her daughter's grandchildren: Paul William, Jennifer, Megan, Sean-Michael, and Brooke.
While attending Montclair High School Mrs.O'Connor spent summers waitressing in Seaside Heights. She was a model for Hanes Department Store. Met future husband Ed O'Connor when working at Grunings Ice Cream parlor on Bloomfield Ave. The O'Connor's got married in 1951 at Immaculate Conception Church. They moved to Little Falls and got involved with their kid's scouting and athletics.
When called upon Mrs. O'Connor worked at Unemployment office in Little Falls and Fortunoff's in Wayne. After the third job interview for Fortunoff, Mrs. O'Connor had had enough interviewing. She asked "Do I get the job or not?" Got hired on the spot. While there she once helped out in a purchase by actor Dustin Hoffman. Mrs. O'Connor was a charter member of the Little Falls Women's Auxiliary. Fund raising by these hard working women included selling food and drink in all kinds of weather at the ball field. One wet Friday night Mrs. O'Connor and good friend Betty Esposito were cooking hot dogs on the electric hot dog machine. Looking down at the puddles of water surrounding them they kidded each other "This might be the last hot dog we ever cook." They laughed and continued cooking. Fund raising by the Little Falls Women's Auxiliary helped the Little Falls Athletic Club purchase team sports equipment, uniforms, and lights for Paterson Ave. Installing the lights in 1972 made Little Falls one of the few towns that had night games - it was a big deal!
