Joan Marie, 84, of Montclair, NJ, formerly of Emerson died on Monday, September 9, 2013 after a brief illness. Mrs. Cox was born in Yonkers, NY to her late parents Francis and Elizabeth (nee Harsche) Wise. Mrs. Cox attended Gorton High School in Yonkers, and went on to attend the College of Mount Saint Vincent where she earned her Bachelor's degree in English literature. Her lifelong loves of reading, theater and the New York Times Sunday crossword puzzle were well-served by her college education. Mrs. Cox was predeceased by her sister, Geraldine Trozinski, who lived many years in Cresskill, NJ. Mrs. Cox is survived by her son Douglas and daughter Joan Elizabeth, both of NYC, and Susan Cox Stillman, son-in-law Richard, and granddaughters Rosemary and Katie from Montclair, NJ, all of whom were in attendance at Mrs. Cox's passing. Funeral from the Hugh M. Moriarty Funeral Home, 76 Park Street Montclair, NJ on Friday at 8:15 AM. Then to Immaculate Conception Church where at 9:15 AM a mass of Christian burial will be offered. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery Yonkers, NY. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Thursday. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association P.O. Box 11454 Alexandria, VA 22312.
