Jonathan Jarvis Obituary
Jonathan L. Jarvis, 30 years, of Astoria, Queens, formerly of Hewitt, NJ, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 6, 2017.
He was born on March 2, 1987 in Ridgewood, NJ to Gregory and Nancy (Connelly) Jarvis.
Jonathan grew up in Upper Greenwood Lake and graduated from West Milford High School. He earned his BA from Manhattan College and went on to be a Civil Engineer working the last four years at Geotechnical Engineering Services in NYC.
Jonathan will best be remembered for his contagious laughter, sarcastic sense of humor, positive outlook on life, and lighting up every room with his infectious smile. Jonathan enjoyed fun times with his friends/family upstate riding quads, hiking, & boating on UGL.
He is survived by his beloved parents Nancy and Greg Jarvis of Hewitt, NJ; his loving sister Jessica Switz and her husband Dave of Vernon, NJ; and his dear brother Justin Jarvis and his wife Elizabeth also of Hewitt, NJ; his cherished nephew Jordan Jarvis; his girlfriend Dana Coletto, as well as countless friends.
The family will receive visitors on Saturday, April15, 2017 from 2pm to 6pm followed by a prayer service at the Stickle-Soltesz Funeral Home, 187 La Rue Road, Newfoundland, NJ 07435 (for GPS use 1 Post Place).
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider donations to Hope With Heart Foundation, where Jonathan spent many summers as a child attending camp. Envelopes will be provided at funeral home or you can donate online, www.hopewithheart.org.

I still cannot fathom that you are gone. I remember when we first met, you said you had a heart condition, and could go at any time. I never wanted to accept that and put it far in the back of my mind. You never wore a frown, and always saw the brighter side to any situation. Your laughter was infectious, your spirit was pure. When I was upset so many years ago, it was you that gave me a big hug and said, "It will be alright." Your sense of humor turned me away from fear, and I will never forget that.
I was away last weekend when I received the news of your passing, and I didn't want to let the blues eat away at me. It didn't sink in until I updated your record when I got to work on Tuesday. I never had the chance to tell you that I am now working in Alumni Relations at your alma mater. It took me several moments to hit "Save and close" as tears streamed down my cheeks. I don't know if I'll be able to attend your send off today, but I know we will meet again someday. Rest peacefully, sweet Jarvis <3

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any mans death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
