Marjorie Vande Grift Obituary
Marjorie A., died on February 28, 2013 in Prescott Valley, Arizona. She was born Marjorie Frelond on May 4, 1925 in Jersey City, New Jersey.
She worked as a model and sang on radio in New York City, New York prior to her marriage to Frederick Vande Grift on July 31, 1943. She moved with her family from Jersey City to Saddle Brook, New Jersey in 1954.
Marjorie provided a safe, nurturing, loving home for her five children and her husband.
She was a Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church in Hackensack, New Jersey for many years. In 1984, she moved with her husband to Murray, Kentucky where she was active in the choir and other social activities at the First Baptist Church. In 2005, she moved with Fred to Punta Gorda, Florida. In 2009, after the loss of her husband of 66 years, she moved to Prescott Valley, Arizona to be closer to her family.
Marjorie had a beautiful singing voice and was an amateur painter and a member of the Murray Art Guild.
She was a strong, devoted mother and wife with a deep religious faith. She will be greatly missed by her family.
Marjorie is survived by her five children, Marjorie Wheater of Port Charlotte, Florida, Fredric of Oakland, New Jersey, Vaughn of St. Pete Beach, Florida, Sandra Turek of Bend, Oregon and Nanci Vande Grift of Prescott, Arizona. She is also survived by five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, March 10, 2013 from 7-9 PM at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 113-S Farview Ave., Paramus. Funeral Service Monday, March 11, 2013 at 11 AM at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home. Interment George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to The Good Samaritan Society 3380 N. Windsong Drive Prescott Valley, AZ 86314 or your local Hospice.
