STAUB
William Edward, 96, of Clifton, died Thursday at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., Mr. Staub lived in Clifton since 1939 with his loving wife, Dorothy (of 70 years), who predeceased him in 2007. For many years, he spent summers in Green Pond, NJ.
Mr. Staub was the founder and CEO of Clifton Tool & Die Company, Besco Engineering and Aerobics, Inc., manufacturers of award winning PaceMaster Treadmills. Considered by many as one of the most influential figures in the development and manufacture of the home treadmill, Mr. Staub was the recipient of Health & Fitness Magazine's "Lifetime Achievement Award".
He was a member of the Board of Trustees of Saint Mary's Hospital in Passaic and a longtime member of Upper Montclair Country Club in Clifton.
Mr. Staub was also president of Colonial Lanes and Colonial Pub located in Lawrence, NJ. He was Chairman of the Board of Center Savings & Loan Association of Clifton. He founded Staub Associates, StanWill Investors and ALDO Company. He was a longtime member of The Passaic City Club.
In his spare time he enjoyed building and flying radio controlled airplanes, bowling, water skiing and golf and was an exercise enthusiast. But most importantly, he shared all of these activities with his family.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Patricia Staub in 1977; his parents, William and Helene and his brother, Norman.
Survivors include: his sister, Helen Walsh; his four sons, William Edward Staub, Jr. and his wife, Carol of Somerset, NJ and Port St. Lucie, FL, Gerald Staub and his wife, Denise of Green Pond, NJ and Tavernier, Fla., Thomas Staub and his wife, Rebecca of Rockaway, NJ and Norman Staub and his wife, Kathleen of Montville, NJ; two daughters, Dorothy Kentis and her husband, Donald of Tewksbury, NJ and Dolores Colucci-Healey and her husband, Dr. Edward Healey of Montville, NJ and Naples, Fla.; twenty one grandchildren: Christopher and Carrie Kentis, William Knapp, Denise Casalino, Anne Sibilski, Thomas and Daniel Colucci, Denise Blasevick, Jayme Warischalk, Daniel, Michael and Kevin Arias, William, Christine, Jillian, Matthew, Michele and Renee Staub, Paula Moore, Edward and Hugh Healey; fourteen great-grandchildren: Sabrina Kentis, Cassandra and Julianna Sibilski; Kathryn Colucci, Cassidy and Griffon Knapp, Evan and Tyler Casalino, Brennan McVey, John and Julia Moore, Megan and Kathryn Healey and Samantha Arias.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Monday at Bizub-Parker Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Little Falls. Interment to follow at Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Upper Montclair. Visiting will be Sunday from 3-7 PM.
