Alfred (Fred), 93, of Boca Raton, Florida, formerly of Lyndhurst, passed away on April 25, 2014.
Born in Koblenz, Germany, Fred had been in Dachau from Nov., 1938 - March, 1939 and then emigrated to England, where he had served in the British Army for almost six years during World War II. He had been in the Pioneer Corps, Tank Corps, Infantry and finally the Intelligence sector. Fred took part in the initial assault in Normandy on D-Day, landing on Gold Beach.
Fred had lived in Lyndhurst most of his life where he had been on the Planning Board and an active member of the Lyndhurst Hebrew Center, Elks, Kiwaniis, and Amvets Post 20. In Boca Raton, he had been a volunteer for the Boca Raton Police Department and the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Department. He was the grounds/building supervisor at Ramapo College, Mahwah, NJ for many years before retiring in 1988.
Fred was the beloved husband of the late Ruth Wolff and the devoted father of Judy Eisen and her husband, Art, and Alan Wolff and his wife, Marianna. He was the loving grandfather of Michael Eisen, and Joseph, Nicholas, and Gary Wolff.
