Arthur H. Jr., 77, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2014, at home. Born in Boston, MA, he resided in Wyckoff, Bergen County, NJ, for 26 years before moving to Jackson years ago.
Mr. O'Connell was the owner of OC. Sales, Inc. in Hawthorne for 22 years. He proudly served in the U.S. Army.
Arthur was a communicant of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church in Jackson and formerly of St. Elizabeth Roman Catholic Church in Wyckoff. He was a Eucharistic Minister at both churches. He was a graduate of Holy Cross College, Worcester, MA, class of 1958. Arthur was a member of the Westlake Golf & Country Club, the Westlake Men's Golf Association, and the Westlake Golden Retrievers in Jackson, and the Naples Heritage Golf & Country Club in Florida.
He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Cecelia O'Connell, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Anne (Cardinal) O'Connell; his son and daughter-in-law, Ed O'Connell and Sue Dreibelbis of Fort Mitchell, KY; his daughters and sons-in-law, Cathleen and Lee Ellmaker of Erwinna, PA, Mary Ellen and Alphonse Marra of Franklin Lakes, NJ, Deborah O'Connell and Chris Uelen of Wyckoff, NJ, Joan and Doug Woods of Callicoon Center, NY, and Trisha and Joe Emberson of Greencastle, PA; his sister, Lillian Coombs of Naples, FL; and his 15 grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the George S. Hassler Funeral Home, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. A funeral gathering will be offered at 10 AM on Thursday, February 20, 2014, at the funeral home. His Funeral Liturgy will follow at 11 AM at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson, NJ. A private cremation will follow.
