FINIAK
Basil Charles, age 85, of Garfield, died on March 14, 2013. Born in Halush, Poland, before moving to Wilkes-Barre, PA before settling in Garfield 50 years ago. He was an WWII Army Veteran, and member and Service Officer of the Garfield VFW Post 2867. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus with the Msgr. Anthony H. Stein Assembly #645 in Passaic, and an avid Green Bay Packer Fan. He was employed for 26 years as an assembler for the Ford Motor Company, Mahwah and the Passaic Valley Sewerage Authority retiring in 1993. He is survived by his wife, Katherine (former Turre), five children, Diane Vicari, Paul Finiak, Patricia Juarbe and her husband Ivan, Ralph Turre and his wife Susan, and Richard Turre and his wife Christine, a sister, Anna Grzybowski, a brother, Nicholas Finiak and his wife Ann, 12 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his son James, his sister, Mary Mundro, and his brother, Michael Finiak. Visiting Monday 4-8 PM with a 7 PM chapel service at the Aloia Funeral Home. Private Cremation. In lieu of flowers the family is accepting donations for the Wounded Warrior Project 212.629.8881.
