To Karen and John,
I am very sorry to hear of your dad's passing. After your mom passed away, your dad and my mom developed a "looking out for each other' habit that was very nice. In my mother's later years, I kept adopting senior dalmatians to keep her company in her home on Porter Avene. Each of the dogs, Lucky and Mikey, made daily trips by themselves over to your dad's front doot to come in, visit with him and then return to my mom's house. When visiting my mom, I would often stop and visit with your dad and we'd discuss politics and the neighborhood.
How long was your dad able to stay in his home on Porter Avenue. I broght my mom with me in 2002 as she was becoming too forgetful. My mom passed away on Feb. 28, 2006. Her birthday was May 24th, two days after your dad.
If you'd like, I would enjoy our getting together at a restaurant somewhere between us to celebrate our parents' lives. I live in Tinton Falls, NJ and hope to be moving to my home in Pennsylvania in the near future. My wife will teach in high school here one more year, but I am in the midst of raising capital to launch a new company that I've formed that will be based in Reading, PA.
Please let me know how to reach you by email and phone. My email addresses are [email protected] and [email protected]. My home # is 732-542-0838 and my cell is 732-513-7060. Karen - communications are a lot better now than when we ran a string between our bedrooms with a can on either end. Do you remember when Cherry Street was a dirt road?
I will not be able to be with you tomorrow at Riewerts, but you and your dad and mom will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Best wishes,
Stan
