Gail, 70, lifetime resident of Wallington, on Saturday, October 20, 2012. Gail was born on December 9, 1941, in Passaic, to Edward and Alice Smith. She grew up on Anderson Avenue in Wallington with her brother Joseph and sisters Ellen and Alice. Gail graduated from Pope Pius High School in Passaic in 1959. At that time it was apparent that her interest was in the field of nursing, thus she attended and completed All Souls Hospital School of Nursing in Morristown. After receiving her nursing certificate, she met the love of her life, Theodore Stankiewicz. They were married at Most Sacred Heart of Jesus R.C. Church, Wallington, on July 31st, 1965. Ted and Gail proceeded to build a home on Koster Street where she resided to this very day. She gave birth to her only son, Guy, in 1972. Years later, Gail became the beloved Wallington High School nurse. The "Nurse" roamed the halls of WHS for over thirty years, caring for each student in need. Whether it was a scratched knee or a family issue, the nurse was there to console. Gail was extremely proud that she was able to continue her education while raising a family and receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. After retiring, Gail enjoyed rides to Atlantic City with Ted, stays in Lavallette with her family, along with shopping with her granddaughters. We love you and will miss you Grandma "S". Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral Tuesday, 9:30 AM, from the Kamienski Funeral Home, 106 Locust Avenue, Wallington, and 10 AM at Most Sacred Heart of Jesus R.C. Church, Wallington. Interment St. Michael's Cemetery, South Hackensack. Visiting Monday 5-8 PM ONLY.
