James Thomas, Sr., a longtime resident of Pompton Plains, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2012. He was 81.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, James was one of eight children born to Philip and Margaret Henry. He married Madeline Barth and the couple shared 50 years of marriage before her passing in 2005. James proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War and later worked for M&M Mars for over 35 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was very active, spending much of his time at Spa 23 playing racquet ball and taking spin classes.
James is survived by his children, James Henry, Jr. and his wife Diana, Colleen Kindlon and her husband David and Michael Henry and his wife Donna; his brother, Robert; his sisters, Judy and Kathy; and his grandchildren, Cheryl, Carly, Erika, Faryn, Rheana, Gordon and Gavin.
He was predeceased by his wife Madeline, his daughter Denise, his brothers Thomas and Philip, and his sisters Eileen and Peggy.
A funeral Mass will be held 10 AM Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church, Pompton Plains. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Magnificat Church Cemetery, Kinnelon. Visiting hours will be held from 4-8 PM on Friday at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains.
