Jean-Claude Suares

Jean-Claude, 71, was born in Alexandria, Egypt, on March 30, 1942, and had a multinational upbringing before coming to the United States. He served in Vietnam as a paratrooper, then embarked on his long career as a renowned artist, illustrator, editor, and creative consultant to many publications. Mr. Suares has designed, written, and illustrated well over one hundred books. He worked at The New York Times, creating the artwork for the Op-Ed page. His illustrations have appeared in The New Yorker, Time and Variety. He is survived by his wife, artist Nina Duran.
