John G., age 53, years of Franklin Lakes, NJ on Monday June 18, 2012. Beloved husband of Kyra (nee Simmonds) Kantakis, loving father of the late George Kantakis (2012), Teresa Kantakis of Manhattan NY and John-David Kantakis of Franklin Lakes NJ. Dearest son of George Kantakis of Manhattan NY and the late Constance Kantakis (1993) and dearest brother of Carol Kantakis Maas of Hawthorne NJ, George Kantakis of Hackensack NJ and the late Laura Kantakis (2008). Dear cousin, and loving uncle to several nieces and nephews. Born in Hackensack NJ, Mr. Kantakis also lived in Maywood NJ, and Hawthorne NJ before moving to Franklin Lakes NJ in 2008. He attended Saddle River Day School, Johnson and Wales University, and Pace University. John, President of Associated Cut Flowers in Manhattan NY was highly respected and loved by his local and international business colleagues. He was a parishioner of Most Blessed Sacrament RC Church in Franklin Lakes NJ. Mr. Kantakis was a member of the NY Athletic Club. He was recently honored by the Interfaith Center of New York as an Urban Angel for his benevolence. Johnny K will be long remembered as a larger than life personality, whose kind and generous spirit will continue to lift us all, as did his enthusiastic "High Five." Funeral Mass on Saturday June 23, 2012 11:30 AM at Most Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church, Franklin Lakes NJ. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park Paramus NJ. Friends may call at the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Avenue Hawthorne NJ on Friday June 22 2012 between 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
