John Bailey Obituary

John R. Bailey Esq., 74, of Montclair, died on Saturday, Dec. 10, after a protracted battle with heart disease and strokes.

A native of Glen Ridge, where he lived most of his life, Mr. Bailey graduated from Glen Ridge High School, went on to Cornell University and Upsala College and obtained his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1963.

Practicing corporate, appellate, real estate and tax law in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, Mr. Bailey began his career at Dewey Ballantine and was later accepted to argue in front of the Appellate Court of New York and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Later in his career, Mr. Bailey was a member of the New Jersey Bar and worked for many years with Shane, Shaffer and Rafanello, ending his career in private practice.

Mr. Bailey is survived by his son, David L. Bailey; his daughter, Laura Bailey Brown and her husband David R. Brown; his sister, Pat Armand of Bloomfield; and his granddaughter, Ruth Ellen Brown.

Funeral services were held privately.

After many years of not keeping touch thought we'd try.....sadly to find out that John has passed away. Fred and John had many great times together thru Glen Ridge schools, sports car rallying, godfather of our son Fred III. Sorry to find out this way but happy memories and our condolences to all. Bunny & Fred
