PEQUANNOCK — Services were held for Joseph Anthony Ruffing, 86, of the Pompton Plains section of this community, who died on Wednesday, November 6, 2013.
Born in Paterson, Mr. Ruffing lived in Oakland before moving to Pompton Plains. He was the CEO and president of a chemical corporation in Long Island, N.Y., before retiring. Also, he was a longtime member of the American Chemical Society and a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Oakland. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II as well.
Services were Saturday at the Oakland Memorial Home, Oakland, followed by liturgy at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Burial was at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
Mr. Ruffing is survived by his wife, the former Elinor Lotter; and his sons, Gregory and William.
He was predeceased by his parents, William and Mae; and his sister, Patricia Cerne.
