Judith HIGHBERGER Obituary

HIGHBERGER
Judith S., 67, went to the Lord on April 9, 2014 at Brighton Gardens, Saddle River, NJ. Judy was a lifelong resident of Ramsey. Beloved sister of her brother William F. Highberger and his wife Carolyn and beloved aunt of Helen B. Highberger and Anna K. Highberger. Judy was the daughter of the Rev. John K. Highberger and Helen F. Highberger; Rev. Highberger was Senior Pastor at the First Presbyterian Church of Ramsey from 1945 to 1975. Judy was graduated from Ramsey High School and Windham College, Putney, VT. She was an Analyst for Valley Home Care and its predecessor The Visiting Nurses of Northwest Bergen County for over 30 years. She served her community selflessly through countless hours of volunteer service with the Ramsey Ambulance Corps (RAC) and with the Ramsey Presbyterian Church. She joined the RAC in September 1977, rose through her dedicated service to be a Lieutenant in 1989 to 1991, and was the head of RAC in her capacity as Captain (Chief) of the Ambulance Corps from July 1991 to June 1993. She was installed as a Life Member of the Corps in 1992. She served on the Session of the Ramsey Presbyterian Church several times and was a member of Session at the time of her death. She was blessed with a deep faith in the risen Lord. She was blessed to be able to celebrate her 67th birthday from her hospital bed in the main dining room at Woodcliff Lake Health & Rehabilitation Center on Sunday March 30 with the love and company of 100 friends and co-workers from the First Presbyterian Church, the Ramsey Ambulance Corps and Valley Home Care and the companionship of her cousins William Watts (of Toronto, Ontario), Kathy Rovetti (of Hartford, CT), and Susan Reynolds (of Pacific Palisades, CA) and her brother Bill, his wife Carolyn and her niece Helen (of Walnut Creek, CA). Her two beloved cats Fred and Lucky are safe in the care of her dear friend Arlene Lenscak. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5-8:30 PM at the Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave, Ramsey. A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 10 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Ramsey, 15 Shuart Lane, Ramsey, followed by a repast at the headquarters of the Ramsey Ambulance Corps, 41 N. Island Ave., Ramsey. Burial will follow that afternoon at Princeton Cemetery, 29 Greenview Ave., Princeton, NJ 08540. Donations in Judy's honor may be given to either the Ramsey Ambulance Corps or the First Presbyterian Church of Ramsey. Please send tributes, memories and condolences to www.vanemburghsneider.com.
