Alfred J. (Al) Klein passed away, surrounded by his family at Hackensack University Medical Center after a one-year battle with Leukemia. He was 72 years of age.

Klein was born in Jersey City and raised in the Oak Ridge section of Jefferson Township. Following his marriage to Judith (nee Ritzer) in 1971, the family settled in Mount Arlington. In 1979 Al, Judy and daughter Kristy moved to Merritt Island, Fla., staying for several years before returning to Mount Arlington in 1989.
Klein was a US Marine Corp Veteran having served from 1959-1963 while stationed at Camp Lejeune, S.C.
Klein retired from Picatinny Arsenal in 1999 with 35 years of Federal Government service. Shortly thereafter he began working for Subsystems Technologies where he remained employed until his diagnosis with Leukemia last July.
Klein was a member and past Exalted Ruler of the Dover Elks (B.P.O.E.), the North Star Masonic Lodge of Wharton and a volunteer for the Mount Arlington Fire Department. He was an avid golfer and member of the Picatinny Golf League.
Al was pre-deceased by his wife Judith A. (nee Ritzer) in 2005. He is Survived by his daughter Kristy Klein of Boonton, niece Dawn Dean and grandniece and nephew Shannon and Brandon Dean of Lake Hopatcong as well as two sisters Delores Fisette of Horseshoe, NC and Joan Winnon of Baystrop, LA and his companion Linda Davidson.
Visitation was held at the Bermingham Funeral Home in Wharton. A funeral service was held on Thursday at the funeral home, followed by Interment at Stanhope Union Cemetery, Stanhope.
