HARING
Mary (Hemphill), 90, lifelong resident of Ridgewood, NJ passed away April 3, 2014 after a brief illness. Survived by daughter Heather Haring Keeley of Ridgewood; and brother Thomas Hemphill of Chesapeake, VA; daughters-in-law Ellen Haring of Chesterfield, VA and Wendy Burns Haring of Wanaque, NJ. Loving grandmother of Randall, Gregory, Corey, Ryan and Kelly and great-grandmother of London and Liam. Mary was predeceased by her husband Roger, her beloved sons Donald and Robert and dear friend George Roerink of Ho-Ho-Kus. Mary graduated from Wheelock College, Brookline, MA with a degree in elementary education and began her teaching career at Willard School. She continued teaching in the Ridgewood schools for many years, completing her teaching career at Somerville School. Mary was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, Ridgewood for over 60 years. She loved gardening, 40's big band music, laughing and lunching with friends and family, taking drives in the country, spending happy summer days at the Jersey shore, and watching her children and grandchildren grow and flourish. She was always there to offer a helping hand to those friends in need and will leave a huge hole in the hearts of those she knew and loved. Friends may visit Sunday, April 6th from 1-3 and 5-7 PM at the C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home, Ridgewood. In lieu of flowers donations to First Presbyterian Church, 772 E. Ridgewood Avenue, Ridgewood, NJ 07450 in her memory would be appreciated.
