Ruth E. Dr., (nee Enck) on February 14, 2014, of Upper Saddle River and Lavallette, NJ, died from complications from ALS which has no treatment or cure. She was born in Freeport, NY to Frederick Harold Enck and Grace Bell Morrow Enck. She moved to New Jersey when she was five and attended Teaneck Public Schools. From there, she attended the College of NJ and earned a Bachelor of Science. At Montclair University she earned a Masters of Art, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Fordham University. She taught in Tenafly, Bergenfield, and Westwood. She retired from Westwood in 2010 after teaching for 47 years. She was also an adjunct at Montclair University and Fordham University. She taught graduate courses at the Universities. She was a speaker at the NJEA convention in Atlantic City and Montclair and Fordham Universities. She also was a speaker at the NY State Reading Convention. She is listed in many Who's Who publications. Dr. Cullen was a member of the NJEA, Reading Association in NJ. Dr. Cullen was a member of the Reading Recovery, International Reading Association, ASCD and an editor for an NEA publication. She was a member of the Delta Pi International. Her husband and dearest friend for over 51 years, Thomas J. Cullen died in 2010. She leaves behind a son, Randall R. Cullen of Upper Saddle River, two daughters, Lauren L. Radick of Pennsylvania and Amy A. Linardic and her husband, Kevin, of Montvale. She also leaves eight grandchildren, Hanne and her husband Ryan Schock of PA, Michelle Cullen of NH, Jenny, Mark and Luke Radick of PA and Alyssa, Grant and Liam Linardic of Montvale. She also leaves her dear sister Dorothy, and her husband Philip Hopko of Florida. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5-8 PM at the Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave, Ramsey. Funeral service and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Ruth's memory to ALS Neurology at Columbia University, 710 168th Street, New York, NY 10032-3784 or to the Teaneck Presbyterian Church of Teaneck, Teaneck Road, Teaneck, NJ.
