Savilla, was born in Texas during The Depression. As a country girl, Savilla and family picked cotton and she loved playing baseball. She became a women's clothing designer and volunteered for the Texas USO during WWII. After WWII, she married Carl Ficke and they hand-built a home in Saddle River, living there 52 years. They retired to Cedar Crest. Family was the center of Savilla's life. She was also a longtime member of Ridgewood's Emmanuel Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling, golf, bridge, entertaining, listening to music. Savilla was an avid fan of the NY Yankees and any team from Texas. She died in Charlottesville, VA on February 14, 2013 with family and Hospice Care. Savilla is survived by two children, a stepson, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Gratitude for a long life, well-lived!
