Stephen Porraro Obituary

PORRARO Stephen R., age 38, died suddenly on Saturday, March 5, 2011. Born in Ridgewood, he lived in North Haledon before moving to Highland, NY. A graduate of Manchester Regional High School, Haledon, Stephen was owner of Outlaw Cycles in Highland, NY. He was the 2008 USA Cycling Masters National Downhill Champion. He also won state championships in Cyclocross and Cross Country Mountain Bike Racing. An avid outdoorsman Stephen loved mountain biking, snowboarding, hiking, and any connection with the greater outdoors. He will be dearly missed! Survived by his dear mother Nancy Porraro of Galloway, NJ, his two brothers Christopher and Michael, both of Prospect Park and his dear companion Kathi Krause of Fair Lawn. He was predeceased by his father Sabino in 2009. Friends may visit on Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff. All other services are private.

This is very saddening news to me and to all who knew steve ! He is one of the best people I've met in this life ! He was honest and helpful to all around him ! He loved our sport and always tried to help people be the best they could be ! My deepest sympathy goes out to his family and his friends ! I will miss steve (don't look at my bike) I had SOOO many good times with him Love Jay Dallegro
