ADLER Leo, 90, formerly of Waldwick and Suffern, NY died August 6 in Sun City, AZ, where he had lived since 1981. He was born April 22, 1921 in Brooklyn to Aaron Jacob and Anna (Amster) Adler. He attended John Marshall College and City College of New York, and served 3 1/2 years in the Army Air Force during WWII as a Chief Air Traffic Controller. He and his sister, Ruth Adler, owned and operated Adler's Department Store in Waldwick, which their father had founded in 1927 as Adler's Dry Goods Store. In Suffern he was a member and officer of Congregation Sons of Israel, served as Chancellor Commander of Knights of Pythias Lodge, and was a member of Jewish War Veterans. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Dorothy (Weiss) Adler; by his sons Joseph, who resides with his wife, Ruth Woehr, in Gambier, Ohio, and Steven, of Prescott, AZ; and by a granddaughter, Anna Adler, of Brooklyn.
