Jensen Beach, Fla. — Katherine M. Bates, 94, of Jensen Beach, Fla., passed away on Oct. 19 at Martin Memorial Medical Center in Stuart, Fla.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she moved to Jensen Beach in 1980 coming from Brielle, N.J. She also was a long time resident of Park Ridge.
Katherine volunteered at Martin Memorial Medical Center, Volunteers in Medicine in Stuart, and the Bread of Life at St. Martin dePorres.
She was of Catholic faith and a member of St. Martin DePorres Catholic Church.
She is survived by her son Robert Bates and his wife, Glenys of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; daughters, Trina Macko of California, Susan Sheehy of Park Ridge; Kathy Roe and her husband Leslie of Port St. Lucie, Fla., sister, Mary Franzetti of Jensen Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren, Jeffrey and Jennifer, Macko, Michael and Jim Sheehy, James and Elizabeth Bates; and six great grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her husband of John W. and sisters, Anna Meledandri and Rosaria Donnell.
A mass was held on Saturday, Oct. 22 at St. Martin DePorres Catholic Church in Jensen Beach, Fla.
