Gordon Anthony, 72, of Montvale, NJ, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014, after a short illness.
Born to Helen (Patrowicz) and Benjamin Palkevich, he was raised in Rochelle Park and resided in Montvale for 42 years. Gordon was a graduate of Bergen Catholic High School and later attended Fairleigh Dickenson University. He began his career as a salesman and for the last 40 years he owned and operated janitorial service companies. He was also a member of the New Jersey National Guard. Gordon was known to many friends and business associates as "Gordon Parker".
Gordon loved spending summers at the Jersey Shore on the boat with his family. He also enjoyed the gym, playing racquetball, trips to Manhattan, and scuba diving in Florida. He loved sharing his knowledge of big band music, WWII, and classic movies.
Gordon will be missed by his loving wife of 46 years, JoAnne (Kaverick), his children Bradley (Alyson) of Orlando, FL, Jeffrey (Melanie) of Los Angeles, CA, and Karen Szala (Paul) of Washington D.C. He also leaves behind his brother Walter Pietrucha of Manchester, NJ, his mother-in-law Joan Kaverick of Kenilworth, NJ, and his handsome Irish setter, Murphy.
The family will receive friends and family on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 from 4-8 PM at Becker Funeral Home 219 Kinderkamack Rd, Westwood, NJ 07675. The funeral mass celebrating and honoring Gordon's life will be offered at St. Margaret of Antioch R.C. Church, Pearl River, NY on Wednesday, April 3 at 10 AM with entombment to follow at Garden of Memories Mausoleum, Twp. of Washington.
