SMITH
Charles W., passed away on Monday 31, 2014.
He was a long-time resident of Ridgewood, NJ and was a friendly and helpful neighbor to all who knew him, and was particularly fond of the neighborhood "gang of kids."
He was born on August 18, 1927 in Newark, NJ. He was the son of Charles and Annie Smith of Sligo, Ireland. He had one brother, Robert John Smith who passed away on January 9, 2010.
Charlie served in the US Military Police in Japan at the end of WWII, and worked for the Ford Motor Company for more than 34 years.
He will be dearly missed by his niece, Sandra Willey of Waldwick, NJ, his nephews Thomas Summers of Westfield, NJ and Richard Smith of Port Hueneme, CA, and their children, Jason and Robyn Willey and Kevin and Jocelyn Summers. A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, April 5th from 3-5 PM at the C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home, Ridgewood.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 560 Sylvan Ave. Englewood Cliffs, NJ, 07632 in his memory would be appreciated.
