Mary Haring

RIDGEWOOD - Mary (Hemphill) Haring, 90, died on April 3.

She was a lifelong resident of Ridgewood. She graduated from Wheelock College in Brookline, Mass. with a degree in elementary education and began her teaching career at Willard School. She continued teaching in the Ridgewood schools for many years, completing her teaching career at Somerville School. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Ridgewood for more than 60 years. She loved gardening, 40s big band music, laughing and lunching with friends and family, taking drives in the country and spending happy summer days at the Jersey Shore.

She is survived by her daughter, Heather Haring Keeley of Ridgewood; her brother, Thomas Hemphill of Chesapeake, Va; her daughters-in-law Ellen Haring of Chesterfield, Va. and Wendy Burns Haring of Wanaque; her grandchildren Randall, Gregory, Corey, Ryan and Kelly and her great-grandchildren London and Liam. She was predeceased by her husband, Roger, her sons Donald and Robert and dear friend George Roerink of Ho-Ho-Kus.

Services were held on April 6 at C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home in Ridgewood.
