Beloved daughter of the late Manuel Fernandez Sarrasi and Patrocinio Corredera Gonzalez of Madrid, Spain. Endeared sister of Raquel (living Spain) and Manuel, Roberto, Raul, Renato, Patrocinio, Rolando and Rene (all deceased). A cherished aunt and great aunt of the "Fernandez y Corredera" family and "adopted" aunt of the Hampilos family. A United States citizen, Rosario was a citizen of the world. Cuba was her temporary home but held a permanent place in her heart. In 1952 she emigrated to Washington DC where her brother Roberto was attached to the Embassy of Cuba as Assistant Naval Attaché. For 35 years Rosario was employed by the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB), a brance of the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington DC. She retired as the Civilian Personnel Officer in 1988. During her tenure with the IADB Rosario was awarded the Department of the Army Commander's Award for Civilian Service. She attended adult education at The Catholic University and was a tireless advocate of the Catholic Church, where she served as a long-time volunteer of St. Matthew's Cathedral and of the Spanish Catholic Center where she was a Board Member.
